Who is responsible for the disappearance of our children?
Ayotzinapa, Guerrero March 14, 2017 – On the 13 of this very month, Sir Antonio Tizapa, father of Jorge Antonio Tizapa Legideño burst into an event featuring Andrés Manuel López Obrador and denounced that he protected Angel Aguirre and Jose Luis Abarca when he was part of the PRD party.
In this regard we the Parent and Families of the 43 wish to express our total support and backing to our colleague Antonio Tizapa, we want to say that we understand your pain as it is the same one that we feel.
We express in the same way that we ignore the context in which this encounter took place and what the main objective was. However in the coming days a Commission of the 43 Parents will travel to Washington, D.C. to participate in the panels that will be carried out within the framework of the 161st session of the Interamerican Commission on Human Rights (CIDH), that will supervise the investigations and searches made by the Mexican State and in this context we will host a dialogue with our comrade parent for feedback and to contextualize the specifics of this case.
We want to emphasize that as the Parents of the 43 it is completely clear to us who are those that are responsible for the disappearance of our children. According to the two reports of the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI), the police forces of all categories and the Mexican Army had a direct responsibility in the aggressions and disappearance of our children and indirectly those responsible were the municipal Presidents of the northern region, including the former Governor Angel Aguirre. In the same way as officials belonging to PGR such as Tomás Zerón de Lucio have conducted irregular and murky investigations that conceal those who are responsible. Accordingly, we do not wantto make the encounter in New York a smokescreen that deflects attention away from the continuing investigating into those who were involved in the disappearance of our children.
For us parents of the 43, it is fundamental that the PGR and other authorities progress in the search and investigation to give us the whereabouts of our children. That is our basic agenda.
We reaffirm our determination to not allow the disappearance of our children to be used for the advantage of politicians. Ours is a subject of grave violations of human rights and it deserves a thorough investigation to obtain truth and justice and it should not be subject to electoral interests.
Because they took them away with life, we want them returned to us living!
Committee of the Parents of the 43
