Declaration in Support of CNTE

The National Democratic and Independent Farm Workers Union (SINDJA) and the Alliance of National, State and Municipal Organizations for Social Justice (AONEMJS) that represent more than 80,000 farm workers in the San Quintín Valley and more than 5 million across Mexico.

From Baja California, we call for the immediate release of the teacher Ruben Nuñez Gines. He is the Secretary General of Section XXII of Oaxaca and we also call for the immediate release of professor Francisco Villalobos Ricárdez who is the secretary of the same section of the organization, several teachers were kidnapped and then detained in a violent and arbitrary manner by the federal government [of Mexico].

We hold responsible and hold at direct fault the government of Enrique Peña Nieto, which include Osorio Chong, Aurelio Nuño Mayer and Gabino Cue Monteagudo to produce in whole physical and psychological wellbeing these professors, likewise the millions of teachers in the country. We hold the government responsible for the wave of violence that is generated by criminalizing the just demands of teachers all over the country and the social destabilization that this violence has generated. We demand in the same way for the creation of a venue for dialogue with the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE), and that there be an end to the evil commonly known as Education Reform. We send a clear message that the detention of teachers is only a detonator to make us mobilize and demand their immediate release, and at the same time continue our demands that the federal government follow through with agreements that have not yet been enacted with the workers of this country.

Teachers, parents of families, students, workers, and the civil society in defense of public education.
